Shopping Areas in Rotterdam
Most fashion stores are located in the city center, specifically in Lijnbaan, Coolsingel, and Beurstraverse. You’ll also find Bijenkorf, a large department store offering fashion, cosmetics, home goods, and books, among other articles.
Near the city center, there are streets like Hoogstraat, De Meent, Pannekoekstraat, and Van Oldebarneveltstraat, where you can discover boutique shops with unique designs.
Witte de Withstraat, known as the city’s artistic street, features different and unique items.
Nieuwe Binnenweg, Rotterdam’s longest street, is home to various stores offering different styles and products, such as hair salons, international supermarkets, coffee shops, party supplies, plant and art stores, antiques, records, opticians, and more. Take a stroll along this street.
Near Alexander metro station, you’ll find Alexandrium, a shopping center with over 140 stores.
Zuidplein, the country’s largest covered shopping center, has more than 150 stores, cafes, and restaurants. It is located in Rotterdam Zuid, at Zuidplein metro station.

Markets in Rotterdam
Rotterdam hosts street markets throughout the week, where you can find affordable products such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, fish, meat, cleaning supplies, fabrics, and antiques.
The Binnenrotte market is the second-largest market in the country.
Some markets offer special prices in the afternoon, before closing up, to sell their remaining products.
The Markthal is a daily market with fruit and vegetable stands, restaurants, cafes, and a supermarket.

Supermarkets in Rotterdam
You’ll find various supermarkets in your area, such as AH, Bas, Lidl, ALDI, Coop, and Spar. These supermarkets operate from around 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays, with different schedules on weekends.
Some supermarkets provide home delivery services.
Each week, they distribute advertisements with the week’s special offers. Take advantage of these to manage your budget effectively.
You can also find wholesale stores where you need a special card to shop. Self-employed individuals can apply for these cards, or if you work for a large company, they may provide cards for employees. In Rotterdam, you’ll find stores like Makro, Hanos, and Sligro.
Second-hand Shops
It has become quite trendy recently to buy various accessories from second-hand shops. There are several of these shops scattered throughout Rotterdam.

You can also buy and sell various items on these websites:
Marktplaats: An online portal for classified ads where you can find second-hand items sold to the highest bidder. They have everything from bicycles, clothes, and shoes to electronic devices, cars, books, and many other things that sometimes surprise me that people buy.
Vinted: Another online platform for buying, selling, and swapping new or second-hand items, mainly focusing on clothing and accessories.
Other Shops
To furnish your home, there is an area with large stores above Dakpark, near Marconiplein metro station.
Behind the shopping area of Alexandrium in Capelle, there are also several stores selling furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, appliances, and so on.
There are a couple of Ikea stores on the outskirts of Rotterdam, one in Delft and another in Barendrecht. You can make your purchases online, and they will deliver them to your home for around fifty euros.
