Het Nieuwe Instituut
Het Nieuwe Instituut is a museum dedicated to architecture, design, and digital culture. It was established in 2013 through the merger of several institutions.
This museum is located in Museumpark and housed in a building designed by architect Jo Coenen.
The institution offers a diverse program of exhibitions, activities, conferences, research projects, and workshops. It also provides access to cultural heritage.
The museum manages an extensive architecture collection, including archives and collections from various architects, urban planners, professional associations, and Dutch schools since 1850.
In addition to the archive and library, there is a bookstore and a café.
La Casa Sonneveld
Het Nieuwe Instituut also oversees Casa Sonneveld, a well-preserved example of Nieuwe Bouwen architecture.
The house’s interior has been restored to its 1933 state when it was considered one of the most innovative and luxurious homes of its time.
The house is furnished with furniture and lamps from the Sonneveld family’s heritage, as well as personal objects from the era when they lived in the house.
Het Nieuwe Instituut is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
