Marathonbeeld
Marathonbeeld is a steel sculpture, standing over 5 meters high, created by artist Henk Visch from Eindhoven. The artwork was unveiled in 2001 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Rotterdam Marathon. The sculpture features 20 different colors, symbolizing the diverse nationalities of the participants in the internationally renowned Rotterdam Marathon.
The names of all the winning male and female runners of the Rotterdam Marathon are inscribed at the base of the sculpture.
The statue was generously gifted to the city by the Rotterdam Marathon Foundation. The Marathonbeeld is situated at the base of the Erasmus Bridge, on the north side of the Maas River.
