Maastoren

The Maastoren building, located in Rotterdam’s Kop van Zuid area, stands at a height of 165 meters, making it one of the tallest structures in the Netherlands. It was designed by the architectural firm Dam & Partners. Construction commenced in October 2006 and reached completion in November 2009.

The Maastoren stands at the intersection of Wilhelminakade and Laan op Zuid in Rotterdam.

The building encompasses 44 floors and two underground levels. Its color scheme exhibits dark gray at the base and silver-white at the top, resulting in varying appearances depending on weather conditions.

Internally, one can find the offices of the accounting firm Deloitte and the law firm AKD. Approximately 1,600 employees from both companies operate within the building.

The Maastoren spans a total surface area of 69,000 m², with 36,500 square meters dedicated to offices. It includes amenities for office personnel, such as a lobby with a cafeteria, lounge, and meeting rooms, a company restaurant, a gym, and a meeting space on the 44th floor boasting a breathtaking view.

The meeting room, with its glass structure reaching over six meters in height, offers a panoramic outlook of the port of Rotterdam.

This building also has a parking area for cars. The parking spaces are located on floors 2 to 10, and there are two more parking areas in the basement of the building. The surface parking is open to the public. In total, there are 172 underground parking spaces and 465 surface parking spaces.

The Maastoren is equipped with bumpers to prevent collisions with large boats. Additionally, the building has a dock for water taxis.

The Maastoren started operating on March 15, 2010, and it was officially opened two months later, on May 28. OVG, the developer, received a plaque from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The plaque shows that the Maastoren is 164.75 meters tall and is the tallest building in the Netherlands. The plaque has been displayed in the lobby of the Maastoren since its opening.
