De Zalmhaven
De Zalmhaven Tower in Rotterdam, is the tallest residential tower in the Netherlands, reaching a height of 215 meters. It has surpassed the Maastoren Tower in Rotterdam, which held the record for the tallest building in the past ten years. The building itself is 203 meters tall, and the mast on top adds an extra 12 meters.
De whole complex consists of three residential towers.
The tallest tower, Zalmhaven I, was designed by Dam & Partners Architects, while Zalmhaven II and III were designed by KAAN Architects. Tower I has 55 floors and 256 apartments.
The other two towers, II and III, both seventy meters in height, were designed by Kees Kaan of KAAN Architects. These towers have 22 floors with 196 apartments, and there are also 33 single-family homes available for ownership or rental.
Inside the towers, there are 380 m² of office space, 950 m² of dining areas including a restaurant, retail spaces, and an observation deck on the 57th and 58th floors. Underground, there is a five-story car park with 456 spaces.
Zalmhaven Towers are located between Gedempte Zalmhaven and Houtlaan in the Scheepvaartkwartier, near the Erasmus Bridge. The Smit and Nedlloyd offices, built here in the 1970s, were demolished for this project.
The plan to construct this tower was approved in September 2016. After fifteen years of preparation, construction began in October 2018, and the project was completed in November 2020.
Sustainable Building
The buildings have excellent insulation and are equipped with solar panels, heat recovery systems, and heat pumps. It’s elevators also generate energy while they operate.
The white facades and rooftop garden help to cool the city center during hot summer days.
Average rent for a three-bedroom apartment in the residential tower is 1,700 euros per month.
